How to Qualify as a
Novtel Certified Implementer
A company, close corporation, trust, or other legal entity may sign the agreement. However, the actual NCI qualification must always belong to a real person, not just the business itself. This means a business can only earn commissions under this agreement if it has a natural person working for or contracted to it who holds the required NCI qualification.
To qualify, that natural person must already hold a valid Sage or Xero VAR (Value Added Reseller) qualification as a certified implementer.
The person must then go through an online, practical probation period to achieve Novtel certification. During this period, the person must complete two implementations for each Novtel product together with the Novtel team.
Once the person has successfully completed two implementations of a specific Novtel product with the Novtel team, that person is treated as fully qualified on that specific product.
The qualification stays valid until a newer version of the product is released. When that happens, the NCI must complete the required bridging course within two months of the new version being released.
Training and Implementation
Novtel requires new NCIs to gain practical experience through a joint, on-the-job training approach.
The NCI must complete the first two implementations of each Novtel product together with the Novtel team. For those first two implementations, any training income charged to the client on an hourly basis will be split 50% to the NCI and 50% to the Novtel team.
From the third implementation onward, the NCI may still ask the Novtel team to attend and assist, and if they do, the same 50/50 split will apply. However, from that point onward, Novtel is not required to attend.
Novtel may track the implementation process for new or inexperienced NCIs. All implementation tracking, scheduling, and related communication must be handled through the NCI Portal.
Commission
- Software sales commission
For every successful sale, the NCI earns a 35% flat commission on the once-off software acquisition fee or purchase price, after any client discount has been deducted. - Monthly rental commission
The NCI also earns 30% commission on the monthly rental paid for a Novtel product by clients linked to that NCI. - Important condition about commission
These commission rates only apply if the NCI is fully supporting the client independently on both the client’s accounting package, such as Sage or Xero, and the relevant Novtel product.
If Novtel must step in and assist with support for the NCI’s clients, Novtel may adjust the NCI’s commission accordingly.
When commission is paid
- Client pays Novtel directly:
Novtel must pay the NCI within 7 days after receiving payment, but the NCI must first send an invoice to Novtel. - Client pays the NCI directly:
The NCI must pay Novtel the value of the products, less the NCI’s commission, when the product is delivered and installed.
NCI (Novtel Certified Implementer) Agreement
In simple terms, this agreement allows a person or business to become a Novtel Certified Implementer and earn commission by selling and supporting Novtel products. To qualify fully, a real person must have the right background certification and must complete practical implementations with the Novtel team. The NCI can earn upfront and monthly commission, but only if the NCI is properly supporting the client. The agreement also sets rules about lead logging, pricing, support responsibilities, conduct, and what happens if the relationship ends.
